Neurotoxin Post Care Instructions
Botox and Xeomin
Immediately After Treatment
Remain upright for 4 hours after your injections. Avoid touching, rubbing, or massaging the treated areas for 24 hours. During the first few hours, you may gently move the treated facial muscles (smiling, frowning, or raising your eyebrows) to help the product settle.
Activity Restrictions
Avoid strenuous exercise, heavy sweating, alcohol consumption, facials, facial massage, or other facial treatments for 24 hours after treatment. Excessive heat exposure such as saunas, hot tubs, tanning beds, or hot yoga should also be avoided during this time.
Makeup and Skincare
Makeup may be applied after 4–6 hours if needed and should be applied gently without rubbing the treated areas. Normal skincare routines may typically resume the following day unless otherwise directed.
Possible Temporary Effects
You may notice mild swelling, redness, or small bumps at the injection sites immediately after treatment. These usually resolve within a few hours. Minor bruising may occasionally occur. Some patients may experience a mild headache; acetaminophen may be taken if needed.
Results Timeline
Initial results may begin to appear within 3–5 days. Full results are typically visible within 10–14 days.
When to Contact the Office
Contact the office if you experience persistent swelling, severe pain, signs of infection, eyelid drooping, or any unusual or concerning symptoms.
Follow-Up
A follow-up visit at approximately 2 weeks is recommended to assess results and determine if any adjustments are needed.
